Local Governance

The Kemnal Academies Trust is a multi-academy trust with 45 special, primary, secondary and all through academies.

The Kemnal Board of Trustees ensure their accountability for the provision, standards and outcomes in every academy via the senior executive team and the Directors of Education.

Our Directors of Education play the lead role in supporting, challenging and holding to account our Headteachers and their school teams.

The Kemnal Board has established local governing bodies to help Directors of Education in their role, to support their local school and local community, and to provide local knowledge and insight.

Please visit our Trust website for more information about our governance.

The main role of the governors is one of monitoring and evaluation to support the Headteacher and staff of the school. We help them to set and reach targets and to strive for excellence across the whole spectrum of school life.

The key document used for this is the School Development Plan (SDP).

We have a legal responsibility to:

  • Ensure that the National Curriculum is followed

  • To oversee the school’s budget

  • Monitor the condition of the school buildings and grounds

  • To ensure that Special Educational needs are met
